Patient Photograph Consent
Effective date: 25 June 2026
Photographs are sometimes a useful part of dental care. This page explains when and why we take patient photographs at Acura Dental Clinic, how we use and protect them, and the choices you have. Photographs of identifiable patients are treated as personal (and, where clinical, health) data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Clinical photographs (your dental records)
As part of examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and record-keeping, we may take clinical photographs of your teeth, mouth or face. These form part of your confidential dental record. They are stored on secured, access-controlled systems and are accessed only by the treating dentist and authorised clinic staff for your care and our record-keeping obligations.
Use in marketing, before/after galleries and testimonials
We will only use your photographs for non-clinical purposes — such as a before/after gallery on our website, social media, printed material, or alongside a testimonial — if you give us separate, specific, written consent for that use. This is entirely voluntary. Your treatment and care are never conditional on agreeing, and declining will not affect the care you receive.
What your consent covers
Where you do consent, you can choose how your photographs may be used (for example, which channels, and whether they may appear with or without your name). We will keep to the scope you agree to. We do not sell your photographs and do not use them for third-party advertising.
Identification
Unless you specifically agree otherwise, before/after and similar images are shown without your name or identifying details. Individual treatment results vary, and images are shown for general information only.
Withdrawing consent
You may withdraw your consent for non-clinical use at any time by contacting us. We will stop using the photographs for those purposes going forward. Please note that copies already printed, or already shared to or cached by third-party platforms, may not be fully recoverable; we will make reasonable efforts to discontinue further use.
Children
For patients under 18, any photograph and any consent for non-clinical use are handled only with the consent of a parent or lawful guardian.
Your rights & grievances
You may request access to, or correction or erasure of, your data (including photographs) where applicable, and you may withdraw consent or raise a grievance. To do so, contact our Grievance Officer: Dr. Niti Nathani, Acura Dental Clinic, U-12, Gagan Shopping Arcade, Gokuldham, Goregaon (East), Mumbai 400063. Email: acuradentalclinic@gmail.com. Please also see our Privacy Policy.
Changes
We may update this notice from time to time; the latest version will always be available on this page with its effective date.
